Cross posted from the Hike the Highlands Blog

Trail Analysis Workshop to discuss the conceptual trail routes of the PA Highlands Trail Network in the Quakertown area will be held on Tuesday, June 25 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at the Milford Township Municipal Building, located on 2100 Krammes Road, Quakertown, PA 18951.

Sponsored by the Appalachian Mountain Club and PA Highlands Trail Steering Committee, workshop participants will have an opportunity to review and comment on trail-route alternatives that are being identified and considered as part of the Quakertown Area Master Trails Plan. The study area includes Quakertown Borough and surrounding communities from the Bucks-Lehigh border to Perkasie-Sellersville, Nockamixon State Park, and the border of Bucks and Montgomery counties in Milford Township. Members of the public are welcome to participate. For more information about the PA Highlands Trail contact John Brunner at: [email protected]

Quakertown Area Master Trails Plan Meeting Set

The following article is taken from the Appalachian Mountain Club's Hike the Highlands Blog:

The Appalachian Mountain Club and PA Highlands Trail Steering Committee will host a public meeting on Monday, April 29 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Richland Township Municipal Building (1328 California Road, Quakertown, PA 18951). The purpose of the meeting is to gather input on the Quakertown Area Master Trails Plan study.

Residents, businesses and organizations interested in improving bicycle-pedestrian access are invited to come out and share ideas about how to create walking and bicycling trail connections between parks, schools, ball fields, housing developments and shopping areas.

Over the past few decades, municipalities in the Quakertown region have made great progress in providing local residents with parks and safe places to walk, bike and hike. A new effort to develop the PA Highlands Trail has helped focus attention on opportunities to connect both existing and planned local trails. This public meeting is part of a special planning effort to develop a ‘Quakertown Area Master Trails Plan’ -- which in addition to Quakertown -- will include several other townships and boroughs surrounding the borough.

Bob Thomas and Mike Szilagyi of Campbell Thomas & Co are bringing their expertise to help AMC and PHTN Steering Committee find alternative trail routes for the PA Highlands Trail and identify ways to facilitate non-motorized mobility in a variety of landscapes including rural, urban and suburban.

(Crossing Paths note: While much of the PA Highlands Trail is being planned primarily as a hiking trail the Quakertown Area Trails Master Plan will have a shared use path network component).
