Forge to Refuge & Cross County Public Meetings

Two Circuit trail segments are undergoing feasibility studies. Radnor Township is conducting the Forge to Refuge Trail (East and West) feasibility study and Plymouth Township/Montgomery County are jointly conducting the feasibility study for the Cross County Trail between Germantown Pike and Joshua Road. Both studies are contracted to Campbell Thomas & Company.

There are two upcoming meetings worth attending if you are interested in providing input on the alignment of these trails.

September 15th, 7pm - Forge to Refuge (East) - Bartram's Garden, Philadelphia

October 7th, 7pm - Cross County Trail - Greater Plymouth Community Center, 2910 Jolly Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA.

DCNR Announces Grants for Circuit Trails

On November 20, 2012, Governor Corbett announced the DCNR Community Conservation Partnerships Program grants for 2012, which make an investment of $26.5 million in 198 projects to revitalize communities, create new recreational opportunities, and conserve natural resources throughout Pennsylvania.

The DCNR grant program combines several funding sources into one. Funding comes from:

Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93)
Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF)
Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) – federal monies
Pennsylvania Recreational Trails (PRT) – federal monies
Snowmobile/ATV Fund

The following trail segments in the Circuit received grants:

Bucks County, $40,000 to study the feasibility of a multi-use trail along the Middle Neshaminy Creek Greenway.
Doylestown Township (Bucks), $200,000 for the development of the Destination Peace Valley Trail
East Bradford Township (Chester), $80,000 for the development of the East Branch Brandywine Trail
Chester County, $75,000 for a strategic action plan for the Brandywine Creek Greenway
Millbourne Borough (Delaware), $13,200 to prepare a an open space and community connector greenway plan
Upper Darby Township (Delaware), $10,000 for a feasibility study and conceptual design of a trail through Naylor's Run Park
Radnor Township (Delaware), $45,000 to prepare a feasibility study of two sections of the Forge to Refuge Trail
Lower Salford Township (Montgomery), $30,000 to prepare a feasibility study for the Heckler Plains to Evansburg Trail.
Lower Merion Township (Montco & Phila), $500,000 for design and construction of the Manayunk Bridge
Philadelphia, $500,000 for the construction of the Poquessing Creek Trail
Schuylkill River Development Corp (Phila), $225,000 to design and construct the SRT from South Street to Christian Street.
