PENNDOT has developed a new map of the US 202 Parkway Trail which has appeared online via the Montgomery Township website. The bi-county trail map is similar in some ways to Schuylkill River Trail and Perkiomen Trail maps put out by Montgomery County Parks.
An interesting feature of the map is the connecting trail network showing the local sidepath and road connections to Doylestown, Delaware Valley College and the Montgomery Mall and future connections to Chalfont and New Britain. Trailhead parking lots are shown along with a mileage chart. The back of the map offers trail etiquette and on road bike safety information which was lifted from the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia's Bicycle Education library. Unfortunately public transportation access points, such as the bus hub at Montgomery Mall or the SEPTA rail station at Del Val College were not included.
This map is the first official trail guide that features the Circuit logo along with a regional map that features future connections. Placing the Circuit brand on paper maps and trail signs is a powerful tool which will raise awareness of the Circuit among casual trail users much like the Atlanta Belt Line and Velo Quebec's La Route Verte (the Green Route).
